  Special kudos to Dawn Watanabe who did us proud with four 1st Place medals!! Wow. Also to
  John Tomlinson, Brianna Hutchison, Sarah Craver, and Ian Mc Coy all who took home four
  medals in their divisions. In all we brought home 28 medals. I'm very proud of all of you.
  Congratulations on a job well done!

Special Note 

 Shihan Crosswell was recognized for his many years of community service in the martial arts    

and presented with the APS Service Award. (see photo).

 

Announcement January 2009

              Mr. Edward Barry and Mr. Keita Takawaki, senior students of Shihan Crosswell, were granted the title of SENSEI
              as of 1/2/09. Both of these gentlemen started their training with Hanshi Crosswell fourteen years ago
              within weeks of each other. Mr. Barry holds the rank of 3rd Dan in both Shitoryu Karate and Okinawan Kobudo,
              as well as a Black Belt grade in Shinkendo Sword.  Mr. Takawaki is also graded 3rd Dan in both Shitoryu
              Karate and Okinawan Kobudo.  Their long dedication to their arts and their instructor, with hard work and
              many hours of teaching was rewarded with the Certification of Sensei. Congratulations Sensei Barry and
              Sensei Takawaki !!

Congratulations to everyone. You all did a fine job! Special kudos to Kieran Hutchison and Whitney Sorrell who both took   five awards including 1st Place Kumite in the Brown Belt Division, competing as Green Belts.  Also of special note are  J.J. Carwell, John Tomlinson, and Brenden Rider who all won four awards each.  Dawn Watanabe took no less than three 1st  places and Royanne Boice with her Black Belt only a week old, took 1st in Kata in the Womens Black Belt. I am very proud of  all of you.

Everyone did a good job of demonstrating increased skill and understanding of the technique and the application on their   respective levels.  Special congratulations goes to Sensei Ed Barry for his practical application of six different weapons, one vs another, as well as numerous kata with each.  Also, congratulations to Ryanne Boice and John Tomlison our newest Black and Brown belts respectively.
